UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Johnson main card
Main event: Michael Johnson defeats Dustin Poirier
Michael Johnson said he has the fastest hands in the lightweight division and it’s hard to argue after he landed a spectacular right-left, two-punch combo that sent Dustin Poirier down to the mat before Johnson landed the finishing blow flying in on a rocked Poirier. Johnson wins by TKO at 1:35 of the first round and ends a four-fight winning streak by Poirier. After the fight Johnson said he comes out to finish fights and he wants to get on the New York card if he can.

Co-main: Derek Brunson defeats Uriah Hall
Derek Brunson landed a picture perfect left hand early in the first round to knock out Uriah Hall in the co-main event. Brunson ate a kick to the stomach that he didn’t like and decided to push forward, faked a left and then threw the big left that ended the fight. Herb Dean called a stop to the fight at 1:41 of the first round. It didn’t seem like Brunson landed any of the strikes on the ground but Dean felt the KO blow had Hall unconscious. Brunson ties Stipe Miocic and Mairbek Taisumov for the longest active UFC KO streak with four. Brunson has now won five in a row in the middleweight division, which is the second-longest active streak behind Yoel Romero’s seven-fight win streak in the division.
Evan Dunham defeats Rick Glenn
Evan Dunham put together one of his most complete performances in a long time against Rick Glenn, dominating the UFC debutant on his way to a unanimous decision victory, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27. Dunham landed 92-15 in significant strikes and came close to submitting Glenn on one occasion with a rear naked choke in the first round. With the win Dunham extends his win streak to four in a row.

Evan Dunham: “I had a game plan to fight really smart. Got thrown for a loophole though. Big shout out to Glenn, he brought it. It felt great. I’m looking forward to getting back out here and fighting again. I don’t care who comes next. You know me, I just want to fight.”
Roan Carneiro defeats Kenny Robertson
Roan Carneiro took out Kenny Robertson by unanimous decision, 28-29, 30-27, 29-28. Carneiro out-struck Robertson in significant strikes, 33-28, but Robertson out-landed “Jucao” in total strikes 45-43. The grappling exchanges on the mat were intense as Carneiro landed a pair of takedowns to secure the win.

Roan Carneiro: “I feel good. It’s been a long time since I’ve made 170, like three years ago pretty much. This was like a tryout to see how I feel. My opponent was tough too. He only lost to big names in this sport, so overall I feel good. I’m back on track again as a welterweight. I want to test myself. Whoever UFC puts in front of me, I’m going to take it. When I came back I took on Mark Munoz, who fought for the middleweight belt, and I submit him really quick. My only loss was Derek Brunson who is top ten in the middleweight division, so I am sure I am top fifteen in the welterweight division. Thank you for the support. God, my family and my team in Atlanta and American Top Team. ATT for life.”
Kenny Robertson: “My performance was sloppy. I love to lose when I chase somebody down the whole time.”
Islam Makhachev defeats Chris Wade
Islam Makhachev proved to be the superior grappler against Chris Wade, landing four out of four takedowns en route to a unanimous decision win, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. Makhachev and Wade engaged in a war in the clinch and on the mat, where both attacked with submissions throughout the fight. Makhachev looked to be close to finishing a triangle choke from his back in the first round but Wade survived. Makhachev improves to 12-1 and 2-1 in the UFC.

Islam Makhachev: “That was a very tough fight. I fought very safe because I needed a win. My next fight I will put on a performance. By the end of the year I would like to fight again. I just want to take it step by step. Thanks everyone who came out to support.”
Chris Wade: “I’m disgusted with my performance. I’m sorry, I’ll be back.”
Chas Skelly defeats Maximo Blanco
Chas Skelly recorded the fastest submission in UFC/WEC featherweight history when he finished Maximo Blanco with a D’Arce Choke at just 0:19 of the very first round. Skelly came out and landed a flying front kick and immediately attacked with the choke and Blanco was out cold in just a few seconds.

Chas Skelly: “That’s two records for me! I’m trying to win a bonus! I watched a lot of his video and I’m in great shape. My plan was to dropkick him, but I guess I’m not that athletic. I was going to go with the one-arm guillotine, but I took what he gave me. I’m looking to fight someone in the top 15. In my last fight I wasn’t prepared against Darren Elkins. I want that fight back. I’m a better competitor than that and I want that fight back.”

Gabriel Benitez defeats Sam Sicilia
Good Googly Moogly – Gabriel Benitez choked out of Sam Sicilia and the fight was stopped at 1:20 of the second round, giving Benitez the submission win over Sam Sicilia. Moogly dropped Sicilia earlier in the round and then started to work the leg kick in the second and as Sicilia tried shooting in for a takedown Benitez sunk in the choke and before you knew it Sicilia was gasping for air. That is his fourth career win by guillotine.

Gabriel Benitez: “Viva Mexico! I feel amazing. Today is my fifth wedding anniversary so getting this win means a lot to me. Fighting here in Texas was as good as fighting in Mexico. Thank you everyone!”
Sam Sicilia: “I felt like I was getting closer to getting where I wanted to be which was his chin. I got choked before I could get where I wanted to be. There’s nothing to really say. I trained my hardest and did everything I needed to do to win that fight, but I didn’t. I don’t really know where I go from here. I’ve been on the chopping block, I feel like, for years.”
Belal Muhammad defeats Augusto Montano 
Belal Muhammad took a low blow and a poke to the eye, but it wasn’t enough to derail the Chicago welterweight as he was victorious by TKO at 4:19 of the third round against Augusto Montano. Muhammad landed 42 percent of his significant strikes thrown for a total of 60 and 107 total strikes and three takedowns. The final takedown was the nail in the coffin for Montano, who looked to be gassing as Muhammad landed the explosive series of final strikes before the fight was stopped.

Belal Muhammad: “I could have done better, but I’m happy to get the ‘W’ and the finish. That’s the biggest thing to get the finish. I just want to keep moving up the line. I should be ranked and want to keep fighting the best guys in the world. That’s what I’m here for. I’m here to compete for the belt. I want to keep moving up the ladder. I’d like to thank everybody out there that supports me. I’ve got the two greatest coaches in the world and I just want to keep moving up to the top. I train with the welterweight champion and that helps to realize how good I need to be.”
Augusto Montano: “My game plan didn’t go as planned. I need to make some changes with my training. I know I will come back soon and stronger.”
Antonio Carlos Junior defeats Leonardo Augusto Leleco
Antonio Carlos Junior recorded the second-latest finish in middleweight UFC history when he submitted Leonardo Augusto Leleco by rear naked choke at 4:46 of the third round. Garreth McLellen’s finish of Bubba Bush at 4:58 of round three is the record holder. Carlos Junior landed a staggering seven takedowns in the fight and 32 significant strikes to just six for Augusto Leleco.

Antonio Carlos Junior: “I feel very happy. I was coming off two fights were I wasn’t very happy. First was a no contest and the next I lost in two rounds, but now I feel really great. I washed my soul. I just want to get ready and be ready for the next fight. I don’t have anyone I want to fight specifically, but I’d like to fight one more time this year. I just want to say thank you to my fans for believing in me even after everything. I always expect to bring it for you guys.”

Jose Quinonez defeats Joey Gomez
Jose Quinonez put on a clinic on the feet and in the grappling department against Joey Gomez, out-striking him and landing three takedowns en route to a one-sided unanimous decision win, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27. That’s now two wins in a row for Teco.
They said it:
Jose Quinonez: “I was out for some time so I am very excited to come back. I want the world to know I am here to stay. I have great cardio and that is what us Mexicans do; we keep coming. I’m super happy that I won this fight. Everything went as planned. I’m super proud of being Mexican and like to give my best to the Mexican audience.”
Joey Gomez: “In the first round he kicked me so hard in the muscle that is responsible for bending the wrist that my hand cramped for a second. My wrist was stuck open and I was telling myself to get my wrist to go forward and it wouldn’t, so I had to look down and make sure it wasn’t broken. I think I just had a real big adrenaline dump there in the first. I wasn’t really able to put my combinations together and he moved a lot so it was kind of difficult. I was looking too much for the one big shot. My hat is off to him. He imposed his game plan better than I did in the first. I felt like I landed some good shots and hurt him, but my footwork couldn’t keep up with what my hands were trying to do. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. My sponsors, training partners and of course my family. Thank you so much for supporting me the last 10 years. I guess we will see what happens from here.”

Randy Brown defeats Erick Montano
Randy Brown was likely on his way to a loss as he began the third round. His coaches told him he lost the first two rounds. So “Rudeboy” stuffed Erick Montano’s fourth takedown attempt and sunk in a guillotine choke to pull off the impressive win in the UFC FIGHT PASS main event at 0:18 seconds of the final round. Brown improves to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the UFC and he called out Bryan Barberena after the fight.

Randy Brown: “It’s a bitter sweet win. I got to do what I know I can do in the Octagon. I do it in the gym and I need to get it done out there in the cage. My coach told me I was down round 1 and 2. I have to fix that. I know I can do better than that. I want Bryan Barberena.”
Erick Montano: “I feel like I did a great job. I made a little mistake and my opponent took advantage. I will keep training and improving my skills. I would like to thank the audience for coming all this way from Mexico to support me.”
Alejandro Perez vs Albert Morales judged majority draw
A point was taken from Alejandro Perez before the start of the third round for a punch thrown after the end of round 2. It was the second infraction of the fight by Perez, costing him the win and making his Hidalgo opener against Albert Moralez a majority draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28). Perez-Morales was the 6th draw of 2016. This year has completely obliterated the annual UFC record.
