Q&A

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started doing Taekwondo with my two older brothers when I was 4 years old.  Martial Arts have been a part of my life ever since, and from TKD I grew to love other forms as well. When I was 18, I moved to Orlando, Florida to attend university. I started training at The Jungle MMA and began “mixing” the styles by doing MMA.  From that time I aimed to become a professional fighter and go as far as the sport could take me.

What ranks and titles have you held? Former Invicta FC featherweight champion

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
It is a dream come true.  I owe it to Shannon Knapp (CEO of Invicta FC, where I was the featherweight champion) for giving me a platform to grow and also for the support in my transition to the UFC.  The biggest feeling when I signed was gratitude to her, and for the opportunity.  There are a lot of other emotions that come with such a big opportunity, but all are positive and focused on success.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Yes, I went to the University of Central Florida and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education.

What was your job before you started fighting
? I always trained, but before competing professionally, I was a student, I worked at Auntie Anne's pretzels or various retail jobs, a kids’ MMA coach, a substitute teacher. I am still currently a full-time Algebra 1 teacher and BJJ kids’ coach.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? TuffNUff lightweight champion. Started amateur career 0-1, came back to win 5 in a row before winning an Invicta FC contract.
