UFC 312 (2/8/25) Micallef won a three round unanimous decision over Kevin Jousset
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting after I found my rhythm in sparring. That’s when I realized I had something. But it all came together when I met my head coach, Sam Hayward. He saw potential in me, and we started chasing greatness together. That’s when my passion for this sport truly ignited, and I haven’t looked back since.
What professional titles have you held? I’ve held the Hex Welterweight title, and I’ve been crowned the Demolition Amateur Welterweight champion three times. I’m not here to play—I’m here to dominate.
Any accomplishments in amateur combat sports? Three-time Demolition Amateur Welterweight champion. Those experiences built me into the fighter I am today.
Any belts/ranks in grappling disciplines? Proud to say I’ve earned my purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I’m always leveling up.
What has been your toughest fight to date and why? Without a doubt, my toughest fight was when I lost my welterweight title. It was the end of the fourth round after a relentless back-and-forth battle. That fight pushed me beyond my limits, and I gained so much from it. Now, I’m more dangerous than ever, and I’m ready to prove it.
Who is your favorite fighter and why? Robert Whittaker, hands down. He’s everything I aspire to be—no nonsense, honorable, a true family man, and an absolute savage in the cage. He’s a real fighter’s fighter, and I respect that.
Did you go to college, and if so, what degree did you earn? No college for me—I’m a tiler by trade. I’ve always been hands-on, but fighting is my true calling.
What was your job before you started fighting? I worked as a tradesman, doing bathroom renovations with my dad. That’s where I learned the value of hard work and discipline, which I’ve carried into my fighting career.
Origin of nickname: My head coach, Sam Hayward, gave me my nickname because I’m the leader in the gym, the guy who others look up to. I take pride in being a big brother to the up-and-comers, guiding them, pushing them. Being a role model is just as important to me as being a fighter.
Personal life/background: I come from a big family—one of nine siblings—and now I’ve got a little family of my own. My son has lit a fire in me like never before. He’s given me a new reason to fight. On top of that, I’m the best fisherman in Australian MMA! But, at the end of the day, I’m here to put my heart on the line for my family, my gym, and my country. There’s no stopping me now.
